Listography - Mugs!

Kate Takes 5 should feel no shame in her Mug-themed Listography this week.
Photobucket

There's just something about mugs which becomes very personal. I  used to work with someone who would only use a mug with a particular shape and even thickness of china. Not because she was a member of the Tea Council or anything, just because that's how she liked her cuppa. Can't argue with that.

1. OK it may be an Easter cup, but it's a good mug for herbal tea or (if you look closely) hot water and lemon for when I have a dodgy tummy....

2. I think the perfect size and shape for a really good cup of tea. And as you can see from the design, it was given to me from B so another reason to love it.

3. I have never used this mug for it's original purpose of hot beverages, but it sits pride of place in the kitchen as it is a print of B's hand when he was a few months old.

4. B is really into Looney Tunes just now so a few weeks ago I dug this one and another out which had been buried at the back of a cupboard for some time. B loves them, needless to say.

5. These are my posh mugs, Royal Doulton, given to us (when there was an 'us') for a wedding present. I did think of shoving them up in the loft just because of what they represent, but annoyingly I really like them and they do make really good cuppas. So they are staying.

Listography - Top 5 Biscuits

Wow, good Listography by Kate Takes 5 this week, has me salivating at the mere thought.

Top 5 Biscuits.

My big weakness is biscuits. You can keep your crisps, cake, etc, I couldn't live without my biscuits.

My top 5 are (in no particular order, as that is putting way too much thought into this...):

Full moon, Half moon, Total eclipse - Jaffa Cakes

1. Jaffa cakes
Love dark chocolate, love orange. Easily shoved in the mouth in one go. And used to be only 1 WeightWatchers point! (pre-Pro Points)
Bubbablue  beat me to the 'full moon, half moon' thing. Still cracks me up! There's even a Facebook page for it! (see image credit below)

2. Ginger nuts
In my mind - maybe a bit controversial here - the best tea-dunking biscuit. 'Nuff said.

3. Bourbons
It's chocolate, so that's a good start. Of course, you gotta take them apart and lick the chocolate creamy bit off first. And then they become dunkable too! Bonus!

4. Chocolate chip cookies
Even better when they're double choc chip, but delectable either way. Far too easy to polish off a whole packet of these.

5. Thought I needed to include a proper chocolate biscuit in a wrapper type biscuit, so I'm going for a Breakaway. Loved these as a child, my ex used to hate them so never bothered buying them just for me. Now I can have them whenever I want, yippee! (No, not yippee, waistline does not agree...).

I'm in serious need of a cuppa and something dunkable now. I have two out the five above in the house right now. Let me at 'em!

Head on over the Kate Takes 5 to see more scrumptious favourites.

Listography

From Kate Takes 5 Listography- Things I Did This Summer

Photobucket
1. I started blogging!! After much procrastination, I decided to give the whole blogging thing a whirl and see where it takes me... followed swiftly by all sorts of stress about am I blogging right? Am I blogging enough? Should I be commenting/following more bloggers? When the heck do I have time to do all this? etc etc. Still feel like a newbie blogger with lots to learn, but having great fun writing and reading along the way.

2. Got on an aeroplane for the first time in four years. Serious plane-o-phobia (don't know the correct terminology on that one...) since my late teens, for no particular reason. Tried various 'cures' over the years like hypnotherapy, self-help books, fear-of-flying course, but alas no Eureka moment has ever presented itself to take away the fear. So a big deal to fly after such a long time, and hey! I survived!!

3.  Celebrated my wee boy's 5th birthday and before catching breath, watched him turn into a BSB - that's a Big School Boy to the uninitiated... 2 1/2 weeks in to term, he's still not quite settled in yet, and I'm still coming to terms with the emotions and anxieties its raises within me. It's amazing the effect a polo shirt, trousers and a jumper can have on a mummy!

4. Applied for very few jobs as there are just not many of the suckers out there worth applying for - which meant I also continued to spend more of my redundancy payout to keep us ticking over. Hoping the autumn will bring more opportunities...

5. Spent lots of time with my boy: going for days out and the odd trip to the beach (what?! we had sunshine this summer?!), a couple of mini-breaks to York and Northumberland, little walks in the nearby woods, and just mucking about at home.

Phew! It's been a blast! x

Listography

From Kate Takes 5, a Guilty Pleasures Listography. (I think i share your taste in TV, Kate, as Dawson's Creek would have been on my list, and I remember all those Home & Away characters too). Here's a few of my Guilty Pleasures:

1. Trains. I don't mean trainspotter proportions, but due to B's obsession with trains and all things train-related, I actually now quite enjoy sitting for half an hour looking at the trains coming in and out of the station. And B has taught me to recognise the actual numbers of the platforms from an epic distance. I even don't mind looking at his train magazines with him for more than a few minutes... Your proper railway magazines like "Railways Illustrated", etc. At first I was tempted to buy porn just to hide the train magazine inside it when i was buying it...

Green Arrow. Yum.
2. Smallville (TV programme, on E4). For those who aren't acquainted with this little gem, its superman before he was superman i.e. Superman: The Early Years.  Typical teen/twenties angst type series with ridiculous, confusing plotlines. But in my defense, there is a good amount of fit male bods on display (Green Arrow does it for me over Superman himself), so where's the harm in that?!

Kevin McCloud
3. Ooh can't believe I'm admitting this one...  Grand Design's Kevin McCloud. Not for being particularly attractive per se, but there's something about his confidence-bordering-on-arrogance style, intelligence, etc. Definitely something in that. I was completely ribbed by former colleagues on this a while ago, but despite the derision I stand by my weirdness! Anyone?

4. Michael Buble. Might be a bit cheesey, but his Crazy Love album got me through some tough times last year.... so he'll always be on my ipod, even though I can't listen to it anymore right now! Too many difficult memories attached to it for the moment.

5. Bit controversial for some for classing it as a 'guilty pleasure', it's Netmums.com. Now, for those other Netmummies this might seem odd, but I do sometimes get the *eye-roll, laugh* type thing by non-parent/non-netmummy friends if I mention Netmums in a conversation if its given me some good advice/information (which it often does).

Wow, I feel cleansed.
